im sitting at my desk

waiting for the ring

i cant help but think

what the news will bring

as i patiently wait

i softly start to sing

im thinking of my sister

and waiting for the ring

i cant take the excitement

i start to pace around

not wanting to hear a thing

accept that one little sound

it only seems like yesterday

we were starting school

but now im becomeing an aunt

ill admit its kinda kool

but then i hear a ringing sound

from within my thought

i pick up the reciever

and hear what the news has brought

   "6lb 15oz"

said the voice on the other side

i almost droped the phone

as i had to stop and cry

the tears came for excitement

for she had finally come

i asked if she looked as beautiful

as the place that she come

this beautiful baby girl

that has come from my  sis

will always be my angel

i have God to thank for this

A Birthday Gift

by Thad Langenberg

She lived a life of solitude.

She lived a life in vain.

She lived a life in which there was

A strong, ongoing pain.

She had no friends on which to lean

And cry her problems to.

She had no friends to give her love

And hope and kindness, too.

She though about it day and night;

She lay upon her bed.

Her mind made up, she grabbed a gun

And put it to her head.

Just then a ring came from the phone.

She pulled the gun away.

Her mom was on the other end

And wanted just to say,

 "Happy Birthday, my dear girl.

Today is just for you.

I care for you with all my heart,

I hope you know that's true."

These words ran through her mind so much.

The gun was down for good.

She changed her mind about her life

And then she changed her mood.

She thought about this special day

And what her mom had said.

The gift her mom gave her that day

Was the gift of life, again.

Practical Application

by Dan Clark

He's teaching her arithmetic,

He said it was his mission,

He kissed her once,he kissed her twice and said,

"Now that addition."

And as he added smack by smack,

In silent satisfaction,

She sweetly gave the kisses back and said,

"Now that's subtraction."

Then he kissed her, she kissed him,

Without an explanation,

And both together smiled and said,

"That's Multiplication."

Then Dad appeared upon the scene and

Made a quick decision.

He kicked that kid three blocks away

And said, "That's along division!"
